About Susie Garlick

For more than 25 years, Susie Garlick has been researching and living what she now teaches to parents.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, Susie taught 5th and 1st grade. She then became a stay-at-home mom after giving birth to her son in 1999 and her two daughters in 2002 and 2005. She quickly found herself wondering how a successful teacher of 25+ students could have struggles at home with her little classroom of three. That was when her journey truly began.

Susie went to counseling, she read, she researched and she began working toward a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. During this time, she wrote the book, DiddleDots: Tips to Ease the Craziness of Parenting. It is filled with 100 parenting tips to help moms organize their home like a classroom, teach expectations, understand feelings and instill values. She knew she was on the right path.

Slowly, she continued her coursework while being a stay-at-home mom. After six-and-a-half years, she became a Licensed Associate Counselor in the State of Arizona and began her work as a counselor.

Spending all of her time counseling moms, Susie realized that the majority of them did not need a diagnosis, they needed help juggling the craziness of parenting. And so, in 2016, she opened her business, At the Parenting Place, where she teaches classes and speaks to the community.

Up until 2022, Susie was the school counselor at St. Francis Elementary School in North Central Phoenix. Today, she is spending all of her time talking to the community, consulting with parents, and promoting her book.
